Welcome to Elementary school Zapruđe, located in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. We currently have approximately 400 students from 1st to 8th grade. Children in Croatia usually enroll elementary school at the age of 7.

Our students are the centre of everything we do here.

Background and Experience

Elementary school  Zapruđe is a primary school which educates pupils from Year 1 to Year 8 (from 7 to 14 years of age). From Year 1 to Year 4, pupils have a class teacher that teaches all subjects except for a foreign language subject - English language  and Religious Education which are both taught from Year 1.

In Year 4 pupils can learn  second foreign language - German language, and starting from next school year, we hope that they can take up learning a third foreign language – Spanish language.

500 students attend the school,  42 teachers, a school counsellor, a speech therapist and a headmaster make the school staff.
We cooperate well with the school general practitioner, the Social Care Centre and many different associations and secondary schools depending on our students’ educational needs.

We collaborate closely with the Croatian Employment Service which offers professional advice to all students, and we are also obliged by law to offer professional/career orientation for pupils with disabilities.

There is a tendency to create a welcoming environment (school as a home) where students' works adorn the school halls to represent their accomplishments and are used as an incentive to other students.
Moreover, students can use different parts of school as relaxing or fun zones.

Due to selfless dedication of teachers, an outstanding number of extracurricular activities are available to students. Students are offered new things to learn, a relaxed atmosphere and a better way to spend their free time (Eco Group, Hiking-Eco Group, Rhythmic-Sports Group, Choir, Drama Group, Art-Creative Group, Puppeteers Group, Debate Club, Librarians, Film group, First Aid Group, Gardeners, Journalists (Media) Group, School Sport Society, Robotics, Chess).
