FINLAND
Finland is big country in north Europe. Here lives 5,5 million people.
Finland has been independent since 1917 and member of EU since
1995. Euro has been our currency since 2002.
Republik of Finland has president, now mr Sauli Niinistö and 200
members in parliament. We have two offical languages finnish
and swedish.
Finland is wellknown of 187 00 lakes and over 2 million saunas.
The biggest towns are capital Helsinki (600 000 inhabitants) Espoo,
Vantaa, Tampere, Turku and Oulu. Finland has been active peace
keeping country in many UN operations. Neighbour countries
are Sweden, Norway, Russia and Estonia. Finland is neutral, not
member of NATO.
The most popular places to visit in Finland are capital Helsinki,
lake district in eastern part of country and town Rovaniemi
in Lapland in north of Finland.
